well, at the moment verizon fios is at 5mbps download 2mbps upload for free 1st mo. then 42.99 a mo.   they have a faster package at 15mbps download 2mbps upload with free 1st mo. and 52.99 a month. and their fastest package 15mbps dowload, 15mbps upload, for free 1s mo. then 64.99 a month. my 2 cents.

I have seen fiber showing up in acommunity that is just being built. As I see it there needs to be power at each home to run the fiber system. Not very reliable if you have a loss of power which can happen every 6 months around NC. Unless you have a UPS system or generator you are dead in the water until the power restores.
